New York, New York

domingo, mayo 10, 2009

Yeeeeeeeeees!! I'm coming to New York! After I missed the first offer I had couldn't imagine that less than a month later I'd be buying another flight offer to NY! It's a bit more expensive (around 40 eur) but I do prefer it this way cos the flight time is less and more convinient to me. I fly over London-Heathrow and I don't have one of those long stoppovers, just 1h between both flights. I'm visiting Heathrow's new 5 Terminal, whose construction started right after I moved out of England. Actually I haven't been in Heathrow since Sep 26th 2002 ...(hardest flight ever) so it's kind of "emotional" being back there. I wish I could stop in London for a couple of days too .. it's definetely gonna be weird being just an hour away from Oxford and not visiting ..

Well, leaving "Oxford emotions" aside I'm very excited about this trip and I'm very very happy that I'm flying in September instead of June ..... all sports are on season while I'm there!!! This means I'd be able to watch Baseball, NBA, NHL and of course the american football :DDD My budget will not be enough to see all of them, but it's now sure that I won't leave USA without seeing at least one of them.

Moreover it's kind of "Festival time" in NY, there's the International Film Festival, the Comedy Club International Festival, the Musical Theatre Festival, .... all in all a lot going on by then hehehehe.

I'm a bit sad that I won't be seeing NY with xmas stuff and people hanging around in the ice rinks but on the other hand I guess I'll see LIFE in Central Park, as far as I've looked by now there's a lot going on there on summertime.

Then there's Broadway (i'll probably get a ticket) and visiting all those neighbourhoods: Brooklyn, Harlem and the Bronx. I'll probably come to visit Queens (Yankee Stadium is there I think) and I definetely ruled out Coney Island for this trip ..

I'm also researching on thematic bars and happy hours .. also some restaurants I shouln't miss and I'm definetely going for sushi or any strange foreing cuisine. And yes, the traditional hot dog in Central Park. But moslty I'm exited about the bars hehehehe. I'm guessing u can "happy hour" 24h a day if you mean to.

Then I might take some Film tours and visit some famous film locations ... so, briefly, a LOT of stuff to do there XD! And if for some strange reason I get bored I can make a day trip to Washington or Boston for a joke-price hehehehe. Jussssst looking forward to NY!!!!!!!!!!

Finales approaching ..

martes, mayo 05, 2009

Yes, fortunately and unfortunately. Since I discovered sidereel I follow my favourite series "real time". I see new episodes just a day after they're released in US and as it happens, sometimes it's VERY hard to wait those 7 days and even harder to wait that night more for it to be posted in the internet. Moreover my nights have come to the habit of watching at least an episode before going to sleep ...

These days I realised that all my shows are on their countdown towards their season finale. My favourite shows are without doubt House, Bones, NCIS and Cuéntame (SP). In the next two weeks they all come to the end of the season, as well as OTH, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Grey's Anatomy, .. Why do all shows come to end at the same time? What am I gonna do every night from May to October, when new seasons are supposed to start?

It's with a bit of sadness and a lot of curiosity that I face this two weeks cos all series are gonna have a gorgeus finale, but then they'll be over ..

Environ-MENTAL: It's possible

jueves, abril 23, 2009

The Environ-MENTAL is a formula-1 car built up from renovable and eco-friendly materials. Its bodywork (carrocería) is made out of potatoes and the steering wheel of carrots. Moreover it doesn't runs with petrol at all, but with a mixture based on chocolate and vegetable oil.

Everyday I'm pleased to find in NeoTeo more and more articles regarding new energy technologies and everyday products redesigned and produced based on new pro-evironmental materials and technology. Formula-1 cars, everyday cars, parking lots, mobile telephones, mini-computers and even new trains and railway tracks are being developed. In addition we all have heard of those bio "petrols" that are used in some part of the states and have saved many farmers from total ruin and converted their lands into a new market.

So yes, we can, we have the technology to stop destroying our planet and make energy accesible to all. At this point is where I get angry: The world is ruled on petrol. Our not-so-good-these-days economy is based on petrol cost and those who control it are far away from giving it away. Meanwhile an unfortunally smaller group of individual scientists, research groups and even international companies as well as aware-of-the-problem citizents believe that a total eco-friendly world is possible and we have knowledge and technology to turn into it. They keep showing us how everyday things we use can be transformed so they benefit our environment instead of destroying it and how it is possible to get all energy needed from that endless fountain call Earth.

I hope the day comes soon when politicians, worldwide companies and all those impasive and unaware of the problem people will realise we need to change our mentality and invest in environmental technologies for a healthier planet so ecologic cars, telephones, petrols, ect .. become a (cheap) reality accessible to everyone. Yes, it's time to realise we need a change of perspective .. and we need it soon.
